Let's go down to the river to pray

The other option for the title was "Oh My" but I just watched Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? and thought that song was rather catchy... I-i-i-i Am a man of constant sorrow... has got to be my favourite song from that movie...

anyways, I just looked at the date and saw that it is now the 8th... it's been 1 week since new years... 1 week since the wild west party at Cooks Beach... 2 weeks since Christmas... and 3 weeks since the week before Christmas.

I was looking at my calendar the other day, and it occurred to me... a week is actually a really long time, I mean, what can you do in a week..? 7 days... you can change lives, or you can destroy them... I find the concept of time quite exciting, not for what it is, but for what you can do in time.

I spent a whole year doing basically nothing, and now I look back and wonder what I could have changed and improved. The reason I didn't do anything was because I got irritated looking for work. But what would have happened if I didn't give up? well, I would have started sponsoring a child, which in turn would have helped change an entire village in a third world country for the better. On the other hand, I probably wouldn't have gone traveling around the world with my mother, I probably wouldn't have gone to PNLT, Noise or Getaway.

As for this year, I need to find work. My trust fund has run out, and I need to pay off my credit card.

but anyway. Time. What can you do in time..? the answer: anything.

Am stir damn

Amsterdam... what to say about Amsterdam...

I can safely say that I have now seen more... stuff... then I would ever care to see again...

I walked through the red light district (during the day, I wouldn't do that during the night). They have a public urinal in the middle of the district... it doesn't have walls... I was going to take a picture of it, but there were people using it and I thought it would be a bit rude.

I'm not sure if I have mentioned it in any of my previous posts, but I am traveling with my mother... who wanted to go to the sex museum... it's quite weird to go to a place with porn all over the walls... it's even weirder if you're there with your mother.

I am never going back to the sex museum again.

ever.

I think that if any of you want to go to Amsterdam, you will need to know a few things.
1. coffee shops don't always sell coffee.
2. if you want to stay in a "safe" state of mind, don't touch the muffins... or brownies... in fact, just don't eat... or breathe.
3. if you are female, don't stay out by yourself after 1am... bring a man.
4. make sure you talk to someone about the tourist attractions... they actually have some pretty cool (non-sex related) stuff to do there.
5. in Amsterdam, second hand smoke doesn't kill, but it does get you pretty freakin happy

I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to Amsterdam... It's a pretty cool place and the people are quite lovely... but there is so much sex... and drugs... which might just be the reason the people are so nice.

on the bright side, we were upgraded to buisiness class for our 12 hour flight to Amsterdam :-D

photos to come :-)

Suns and Berries

Sunbury... that is the name of the place I'm at right now

yet another small town outside of Melbourne.

there isn't really much to say about the past few days, I did however go to my mums church, it was alright, very small though (25ish people)

for the next few days my delightful mother, aunty and I will be hanging around Melbourne, seeing the sights etc.

so I'm sure I'll have something more exciting to say in the next post.

Flying and... stuff...

ok, so I just left the country for the first time in my entire life, I'm going on a 3 week trip to Australia, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, London and Hong Kong... yep, all that in 3 weeks.

as this is the first time I've been abroad, I have learnt a few things about traveling
1. Customs officers in NZ are not very pleasant... seriously, not pleasant at all.
2. Airports have malls... you just need to leave the country to get to them :-)
3. Don't lose your camera.

I just saw my mum for the first time in six months (also had the first decent meal I've had in about the same period of time [roast beef])

I will post photos later... maybe when I get home... on the 14th of August... at 11.05pm... just in case anyone feels like saying hello at the airport :-D

right now I'm sitting in the corner by myself on the computer, so I should probably go socialize with my step-brother and his family...

OK, so it's a later date

1 day later to be a little more precise... I have a little more motivation now

Life, Life, Life... what to say about life..?

Here's all the general details about me and whats changed over the past few years:

I am now living in Christchurch with my Dad (instead of Rangiora)
My hair is longer than ever
I am looking for work (still)
My mother and her husband now live in Australia
My oldest brother is living in Scotland
My other brother owns his own house in Rangiora
I still go to Primal Youth
I also go to CCC (C3) instead of LCC
I'm no longer a leader at NCYS (mainly because it was put on indefinite hiatus)
My step-brothers wife just had a baby
I graduated the course in Live Sound and Event Production last year
I was also involved in CityJam (I did alot of the Pre-Production) which deserves a whole blog post of its own... maybe later...

I that's all I can think of at the moment...

who knows, I might just edit this later

With as much love as 2 years can muster,
-Benjamin
